Video Game Connections started in January 1991, dealing only in used games and systems for all systems from the '70s through the '90s. As newer systems were produced, and the lack of used tites for such systems, the store started carrying new titles as well.

Originally located in the Howell Flea Market/Mini Mall and later in Howell Center, the retail store was closed in February 2003 to concentrate on the mail order business that was built up over the previous seven years.

While always carrying classic games and systems since the store's inception, the demand over the years not only caused the store to devote more space to the older games, but the store also hosted collectors meetings which attracted people from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, as well as other guests from further away. While these meeting are currently on hiatus, they are expected to start up again in late 2003.
